Graduate Course Credit Information

The College of New Rochelle, in partnership with CME|NY, is offering a 33 credit Master of Science in Early Childhood Education,
with a concentration in Early Childhood Montessori Education.

The prerequisites for this program are:
Undergraduate degree from a regionally accredited college with a minimum 3.0 overall GPA.
Review of college transcripts for NYS requirement of 30 credits in Liberal Arts.

Students attend the CME|NY Early Childhood Montessori Training and Practicum and receive 18 credits,
and then complete CNR Courses for an additional 15 credits.
Courses are held on site over 2 summers, and on-line during the school year.

This is a 33 credit program.

Each credit  from The College of New Rochelle costs $465 (2015- 2016 rate) plus the cost for CME|NY course tuition and fees.

To be eligible for NYS certification, students must pass the following New York State tests:
New York State Teacher Certification Exam: Academic Literacy Skills Test (ALST)
New York State Teacher Certification Exam: Education All Students Test (EAS)
Content Specialty Test (CST): Multi-Subject Teachers of Early Childhood (Birth-Grade 2)
edTPA: Early Childhood
Plus Workshop: Dignity for All Students Act
and fingerprint clearance

In addition to information learned during the coursework, The College of New Rochelle offers workshops and courses to assist with these tests. 


To be considered for acceptance, students must submit the CNR Graduate School application. The application can be found at cnr.edu/apply  half way down the page.

Along with an application, please submit the following:

1) Official transcripts from all colleges attended. A minimum 3.0 overall undergraduate GPA is required.

2) GRE or MAT exam.

3) A personal goal statement.

4) Two letters of recommendation of a professional or academic nature.

5) Resume.

6) Immunization proof of MMR, which can be sent via mail, fax, or email from your doctor, current, or previous employer, or any other means possible.

COST: $465.00 per credit payable by check or credit card (MC, VISA, or AMEX only).
