The Center for Montessori Education|New York was founded in 1979 on the belief that we should embody the very principles, practices and ideals central to a Montessori classroom:
· Respect for the individual
· Development of the human potential
· Support of the community
· Nurturing the spirit
· Pursuit of academic excellence
Our teaching is deeply rooted in the traditions of Dr. Maria Montessori and is enriched by current research in child development, conflict resolution and psychology. We are affiliated with the American Montessori Society (AMS) and accredited by the Montessori Accreditation Council for Teacher Education (MACTE).
Our rich tradition of quality programs and experienced faculty enables CME|NY to graduate students who are qualified to meet the expanding needs of today's Montessori educational system. We aim to enable and empower adults to assist children in their optimal development and to be a model and resource for families, child care centers, schools and communities throughout the country.
