"Pioneering the course that prepares teachers for 9-12 has been an exciting project for CMTE/NY. We've given a lot of thought to what's essential for teachers to experience, so they can create and support Montessori programs for the upper elementary child. The course provides teachers with the fundamental tools needed to prepare a Montessori environment. The work with materials is in-depth, and allows for lots of hands-on practice; practice with the material and practice teaching the material. And then there's so much opportunity for curriculum development at 9-12; our teachers must really understand what goes into planning, designing, implementing, and assessing learning activities. All of this happens in a relaxed, playful, yet intensely stimulating community of students and faculty."
