Infant Program
For children 3 months to 18 months old
We strive to provide unconditional love to the children, to care for their physical and emotional needs and to protect them from harm while offering an environment that nurtures the delicate move toward independence.
In many cases, we are the first adults outside their immediate family whom the children are learning to trust. We treasure this responsibility and work closely with parents to observe and understand the needs and interests of our youngest friends.
Because of the nature of the fundamental needs of infants and young toddlers, our day in the Infant Room is less structured than those in the center's two other classrooms. We respect each child's developmental process, and schedules are based on individual needs.
Our classroom is designed to help children navigate and explore some of their earliest milestones, including sitting, crawling, walking, eating independently and developing early language skills. With distinct, adjacent areas for playing, eating and sleeping, the classroom invites the children to develop independence, confidence and a sense of community through activities that promote motor skills, mobility, order and self-expression.
We recently incorporated sign language into our classroom to enhance communication among the children and teachers, complementing what many parents have introduced at home.
Based on availability and individual readiness, children begin transitioning to the Toddler Room typically around 18 months old.
