Admissions and enrollment
- We invite you to tour our center to become acquainted with the Montessori philosophy and how our environment and practices reflect it. Please plan to spend approximately 45 minutes with us at this time. Contact us to arrange an appointment.
- To pursue enrollment, complete the application and mail it with a non-refundable $25 application fee to:
Montessori Children's Center at Burke
785 Mamaroneck Avenue
White Plains, NY 10605

- We accept children throughout the year as space is available. We fill classes to provide a balance of ages within each program to help ensure an optimal experience in each classroom.
- The Montessori Children’s Center admits students of any race, color, religion, nationality or ethnic origin and does not discriminate on these bases in administering its admission and educational policies.
- Once we receive both your application and the application fee, we will place your child’s name on our waiting list.
- We will notify you by telephone when an opening becomes available.
- For placement in the Toddler Room or 3-6 Room (Early Childhood program), the head teacher will interview the child for approximately 45 minutes.
- Once parents accept placement in any of our classrooms, we arrange an initial meeting with the head teacher and set a mutually convenient date to begin the child’s phase-in.
- To officially reserve the space they have accepted, parents submit a $1000 enrollment deposit. This deposit is non-refundable if you change your plans before your child’s first day at the center. Once your child has begun attending the center, we require 60 days written notice of withdrawal, and at that time your enrollment deposited will be credited toward your remaining tuition.
- After you submit the enrollment deposit, you will receive a detailed enrollment packet containing more information about the center, questionnaires about your child’s interests and routine, permission forms and health history documents. We ask that you bring these completed forms to the initial meeting with the head teacher for your child’s classroom.
- The phase-in period is an important time in which both parents and children become comfortable with the environment and practices at the center. It typically takes between one and two weeks for an increasing amount of time each day, leading up to a full day.
